Pontiac G8 Review
The new full sized Pontiac G8 is a gift from the folks at GM's down under division, Holden of Australia. With room for five adults and a rear wheel drive platform it may be what saves the Pontiac Division.

Toyota is recalling 662,178 MY 2003-2004 Corolla, Corolla Matrix and Pontiac Vibe vehicles equipped with power windows. The driver and front passenger door glass bolts may loosen and come off, causing the door glass to separate from the window regulator. Due to the components becoming loose and possibly rattling, an abnormal noise may be heard from the driver and /or front passenger door when operating the power windows. The door glass may separate from the window regulator, bind and shatter during operation of the power windows, causing driver distraction and/or injury.

Certain underhood fires may be caused by drops of engine oil being deposited on the exhaust manifold through hard braking. If the manifold is hot enough and the oil runs below the heat shield, it may ignite into a small flame and, in some instances, fire may spread to the plastic spark plug wire channel.

Two words: Corvette power. Yes, the 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP gets the same LS3 V8 as the Chevrolet Corvette. Sure, the GXP's more restrictive intake knocks the 6.2-liter V8 down to 402 horsepower and 402 pound-feet of torque, but that's still 41 extra hp and 17 more lb-ft of torque than the 2008 Pontiac G8 GT.
Pontiac says this is enough power to get the new 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP from zero to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 13 seconds flat at 108 mph. Not bad for a car that is expected to sticker for "just under $40,000," according to Brian Shipman, the Pontiac G8's product manager.

The G8, short for Group of Eight, is an international forum that brings together the eight wealthiest and most powerful countries in the world. This meeting gives the heads of these states a chance to openly discuss pressing issues facing the planet. For 2008, GM’s Pontiac division is launching a new, full-size sedan that for all practical purposes could have been named after the global summit. And just like the G8 conference, the Pontiac G8 is truly an international affair. The rear-wheel-drive architecture that underpins this all-American, V8-powered, four-door rocket was developed in Australia of all places by GM’s Holden subsidiary.

On certain passenger vehicles, the rear axle pinion seal does not meet all of the specifications and may experience a fluid leak. A rear differential failure may cause loss of motive power and possibly loss of control increasing the risk of a crash.
